Work On Balance Every Day


Our sense of balance and body position can erode quickly if not challenged and become a leading cause of accidental injury as we age. Flat land makes maintaining this important sense even more critical for Houstonians. Work on your balance by doing simple exercises you can easily work into your day.

Here are two to get you started:

1) With your eyes open, try to increase the time you can stand on one leg as you brush your teeth. Switch legs.

2) With eyes closed, stand next to a wall on one leg. Gradually increase time before needing to reach out and touch the wall or open your eyes to re-balance. Switch legs.
